Overview
A detailed excavator built for structural accuracy — the boom, arm, cab and tracks proportioned against reference, with hard-surface detail that reads well up close and a form kept clean and optimised.
// How I built it
- 01
Blockout
Primary forms and proportions — boom, arm, cab and tracks — checked against reference.
- 02
Modelling
Hard-surface detail built up on the blockout, with clean topology that holds its shape.
- 03
UVs and texturing
Unwrapped for even texel density, then textured in Substance Painter — paint, metal, wear and dirt.
- 04
Rendering
Lit and rendered as textured, shaded and wireframe passes to show the full breakdown.
Renders
The finished model textured in Substance Painter, then stripped back to shaded and wireframe passes to show the form and the topology underneath. Switch between them with the tabs, or use the arrow keys.
